On the western coast, we may explore West Point Island, a breathtaking haven of rolling hills, dramatic cliffs, and abundant wildlife. From Devil’s Nose, enjoy sweeping views of Cliff Mountain, the highest point in the Falklands, while observing vast colonies of Rockhopper Penguins and Black-browed Albatrosses nesting side by side. Next, visit Carcass Island, a pristine sanctuary free of introduced predators. Its lush tussac grass provides refuge for numerous small bird species, while Gentoo and Magellanic Penguins, along with playful Peale’s and Commerson’s Dolphins, thrive along its shores. This morning, enjoy time to explore the charming town of Stanley, the capital of the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas). Visit its fascinating museum, browse local shops, or relax in one of the cozy British-style pubs. Founded in the early 1840s, Stanley’s history is rich with tales of resilience, shaped by isolation, harsh weather, and pivotal roles in both World Wars. Wildlife enthusiasts will find plenty to admire right in town. Southern Giant Petrels glide along the coast, while Falkland Steamer Ducks, Kelp Gulls, and Dolphin Gulls frequent the shores. Keep an eye out for Red-backed Hawks, Night Herons, and Peregrine Falcons, as well as Turkey Vultures perched on rooftops. In the afternoon, rejoin the M/V Ushuaia as we set sail for the remote and majestic island of South Georgia.
During our days at sea, enjoy a rich lecture program led by expert naturalists, who will share insights into the remarkable wildlife and unique ecosystems we’ll encounter along the voyage. South Georgia is widely celebrated as one of the world’s most stunning and inspiring destinations, renowned for its dramatic landscapes and extraordinary concentrations of wildlife—truly a paradise for nature lovers and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
South Georgia comes into view, remote and breathtaking, with towering mountains, mighty glaciers, deep fjords, and expansive grasslands. Weather permitting, we aim to visit one of its remarkable sites this afternoon. Elsehul, at the northwestern tip of the island on the Parydian Peninsula, is a sheltered harbor where Black-browed and Grey-headed Albatrosses can be observed from zodiacs in calm waters, offering a close-up encounter with these magnificent birds. Alternatively, Right Whale Bay, a 2.4 km-wide bay on the north coast, recalls South Georgia’s whaling history while hosting wildlife today. Here, we may see a small colony of King Penguins, alongside Giant Petrels, gulls, and breeding fur seals on the black ashen beach, an extraordinary introduction to the island’s wildlife and rugged beauty.

We spend the next two days sailing in the South Georgia Antarctica Cruise crossing the Scotia Sea towards the Antarctic Peninsula offering opportunities to be out on deck, catch up on some reading, check through and edit our photos, or simply reflect on the magical experiences of the last days on South Georgia. Lectures and other activities will be offered throughout these days.
We hope to visit the legendary Elephant Island, a windswept and iconic landmark in Antarctic exploration. For fans of Sir Ernest Shackleton, its history needs no introduction: in 1916, Shackleton was forced to leave 22 men stranded here while he and five companions embarked on a daring, near-impossible rescue mission. What unfolded is celebrated as one of the greatest survival and rescue stories in history. Visiting Elephant Island offers passengers a profound connection to this extraordinary tale of courage, endurance, and leadership, set against the island’s stark and dramatic landscapes. It’s an experience that leaves every traveler with a deeper appreciation of Shackleton’s epic journey and the unforgiving beauty of this remote corner of the world.
Today, the expedition team will prepare you for our exploration of the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands. We aim to reach the scenic Antarctic Sound, with potential landings at historic and wildlife-rich sites. One option is the Argentine Antarctic Station Esperanza, located on the western side of the Sound near Hope Bay, offering insight into life on the icy continent. Another possibility is Brown Bluff, a striking promontory on the Tabarin Peninsula, south of Hope Bay. Both sites are home to abundant Adélie Penguins, representing the Weddell Sea’s vibrant wildlife. These landings promise unforgettable encounters with Antarctica’s dramatic landscapes and unique animal life.
Our expedition team will guide you through the stunning landscapes of the Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetland Islands. In the Gerlache Strait, experience broad waterways, rugged mountains, and glaciers flowing to the sea—remote, pristine, and rarely explored. Potential stops include Hydrurga Rocks, home to Chinstrap Penguins, Blue-eyed Shags, and Kelp Gulls, and Cuverville Island in the scenic Errera Channel, where Gentoo Penguins nest along raised beaches. We may also explore the volcanic Deception Island, entering its flooded caldera and walking the cinder-covered slopes for spectacular views. Finally, Half Moon Island, a crescent-shaped haven between Greenwich and Livingston Islands, offers breathtaking scenery and abundant Chinstrap Penguins, completing an unforgettable Antarctic wildlife and landscape experience.
We leave Antarctica and head north across the Drake Passage. Join our lecturers and naturalists on deck as we search for seabirds and whales. We will also enjoy some final lectures. Take the chance to relax and reflect on the fascinating adventures we have had over the past days.
We arrive at the port of Ushuaia in the early morning and disembark the USHUAIA after breakfast.

To start this journey, travelers will need to fly into Ushuaia Airport (USH), located just outside Ushuaia City. This airport receives domestic flights from Buenos Aires (Aeroparque Jorge Newbery – AEP) and international connections via Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE).
Arrival Flight: Traveler flies from origin city to Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) or Aeroparque (AEP), then connects with a domestic flight to Ushuaia (USH).
Departure Flight: At the end of the itinerary, travelers will take a domestic flight from Ushuaia (USH) back to Buenos Aires (EZE/AEP) for onward international connections.
